Patchwork cot cover knitting kit

Following requests from customers the 2009 Advent cot cover is now available as a knitting kit from our web shop

The kit is suitable for both beginners and intermediate miniature knitters. This is designed to give knitters a chance to try different types of knitting (working in two colours, cable and travelling stitches, textured stitches) on a small scale, and to give the confidence to tackle larger projects, such as an Aran sweater.

Nina’s Advent cot cover

Nina has very kindly sent us her interpretation of the 2009 Advent Calendar cot cover. Nina said:

I did enjoy doing it, it made me sit for an hour at nights and that’s always a good thing and it will look nice in the nursery. I hope you’ll do something similar in the future?

As commented in our reply to Nina, we said that we are already working on ideas for this years Advent Calendar……

Advent cot cover, bag and pot holders

Pat Wareing very kindly sent us this photo of her completed Advent cot cover complete with these comments:

I thought you might like to see my Advent blanket, as I wanted it for a cot I didn’t use all the squares, but the ones left over made pot holders and a little bag.

Roz’s Advent cot cover

Roz Walters very kindly sent us this photo of her completed Advent cot cover (knitted using the pattern on our Advent calendar 2009)

Roz made the following comments:

I used DMC 80’s tatting threads mostly, though I think one was an Anchor thread, same type, and two or three were the Venus 70’s, but all three are pretty much the same. I also changed the border slightly by knitting one length, then a length for the opposite side, then the two shorter sides.

Please note that the Advent Cot cover pattern will be removed from our site this Friday (22nd January 2010) the pattern will then be available to purchase from our web shop.

We recently received this comment about our Advent Calendar:

I took Frances’ advice that half an hour each day would be a good idea at this time of the year to sit down and knit a square a day and she’s right, it’s very soothing after the Christmas crowds and bustle of the shops…..and the baby doll will have a new blanket at the end!
