Abbreviations:<\/strong> st – <\/strong>stitch; k –<\/strong> knit; p –<\/strong> purl; sst –<\/strong> stocking [stockinette] stitch [1 row knit, one row purl]; sl 1 – <\/strong>slip next stitch from one needle to the other without working it; ( ) –<\/strong> repeat instructions between brackets as shown in text; inc – <\/strong>increase by working twice into next stitch to make 2 stitches.

\nMaterials required: <\/strong>size 19 needles, 25 metres 1-ply wool.<\/p>\n

\nCast on 20 sts.
\nRows 1-2:<\/strong> (k 1, p 1) to end,
\nRows 3-22:<\/strong> sst
\nRows 23-24:<\/strong> (k 1, p 1) to end.
\nCast off in rib.<\/p>\n

\nCast on 20 sts.

\nCast on 14 sts.
\nRows 1-4: <\/strong>(k 1, p 1) to end.

\nRow 9:<\/strong> inc in 1st st, k to last st, inc in this st. (16 sts)
\nRow 10:<\/strong> p
\nRows 11-14: <\/strong>sst
\nRow 15:<\/strong> inc in 1st st, k to last st, inc in this st. (18 sts)

\nCast off loosely.<\/p>\n

To make up:<\/strong>
\nWith right sides together, join shoulder seams at top of front and back for about 1\/8th inch\/0.25 cm on each side. Fold sleeves in half lengthwise to find mid point. Pin this mid point to shoulder seam (making sure right sides are together)
\nSew sleeves in place, taking care to match them up so they will be level when the side seam is joined. Join side and sleeve seams turn right side out and press seams gently with a warm iron and damp cloth if required.<\/p>\n
