{"id":9342,"date":"2016-12-02T07:35:00","date_gmt":"2016-12-02T07:35:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/store.buttercupminiatures.co.uk\/newsblog\/?p=9342"},"modified":"2018-01-21T13:52:21","modified_gmt":"2018-01-21T13:52:21","slug":"reading-charts-and-changing-colours","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/store.buttercupminiatures.co.uk\/newsblog\/?p=9342","title":{"rendered":"Reading charts and changing colours"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>A &#8211; Reading a chart<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>1.\tThe first row of the chart is a knit row, so start in the bottom right hand corner and read the chart from right to left.<!--more--><br \/>\n2.\tThe second (purl row) is worked by reading from left to right on the chart.<br \/>\n3.\tContinue working back and forth across the chart until the pattern is completed.<br \/>\n4.\tChange colours as shown on the chart by referring to the key under the chart.<br \/>\n<strong><br \/>\nB &#8211; Tips for working with more than one colour<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>1.\tBefore commencing the pattern it may be easier to place the balls in separate grip seal bags, as this will prevent the colours becoming tangled as you work.<br \/>\n2.\tWhen carrying wool across the back of work, take care not to pull wool too tightly as this will distort the pattern and the shape of the garment by forming ridges.<br \/>\n3.\tDo not cut yarns unless told to do so in the pattern. <\/p>\n<p><strong>C \u2013 How to change colours <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>1.\tIf a new colour is required, join this in at the start of the row, as shown in yesterdays tips.<br \/>\n2.\tColours not in use are always carried across behind the work.<br \/>\n3.\tCarry each colour across behind the work in the same way, for example always carry Main colour over the top of the contrast colour.
