As you can see from the photo the 1:12th scale fishing float is made in the same way as the traditional glass fishing float using the traditional knots. These kits are now available on our web shop. There is a choice of green or clear glass (both common colours in the real size floats) and look best displayed in windows so the light shines through them. Full instructions and all materials will be included in the kits. Many other items for fishermen/fishing scenes are available on our web shop, including lobster pots, fish and fisherman’s gansey’s (ready knitted and as 1:12th scale knitting patterns)

NOTE: These fishing floats would also work well in a 1:24th scale setting as they would be approx 9-inches/22 cm in real life and glass floats were made in this size, the thickness of the ‘rope’ would vary in real life depending on what was available on the fishing boat. As the main purpose of the rope was to protect the globe (in addition to attaching it to the net) a thicker rope was probably more realistic.
