Although better known as being the Patron Saint of Scotland, St Andrew is also the Patron Saint of mariners and fishermen. So this November day spare a thought for those hardy fishermen who brave storms and temperamental seas in small boats to bring us food for the table, sometimes risking their lives in the process. For many years a favourite dish in the UK has been Fish and Chips (deep fried battered fish with a serving of thick cut chips), usually with only salt and vinegar added, but sometimes served with mushy peas.
