We can now reveal that this years Advent Calendar will make an outfit for a lady doll. Depending on the materials and needles used the resulting lady’s outfit will knit up either in 1:6th scale (to fit a Barbie or curvy Barbie doll) or 1:12th scale for a dolls house doll. You will have to wait until 1st December to see the outfit though.
The pattern will be written rather than charted, with no more than 8 rows of lace pattern a day.
Full details of yarns, needles, etc will be posted in plenty of time, but for those of you who need to buy supplies earlier:
-
The 1:6th scale version will require about 220 yards/200 metres of No 10 crochet cotton in each of two colours or 400 metres of one colour, plus one pair of 2.0 mm knitting needles
-
The 1:12th scale version will require 1 x 5g ball in each of TWO colours No 80 crochet cotton or No 70 tatting thread (Note: if making in one colour then only one 5g ball is required), a pair of 1.00 mm knitting needles, optional – a short length of very thin (2 or 3 mm) ribbon in the main colour.
The two colours will need to be strongly contrasting. We have used red & white and dark green & white, as these are traditional Christmas colours. The knitting could be knitted in a single colour but this may not provide the definition required on the lace.
We will not provide tutorials to go with the project, as has been done for the last few years, as most of the techniques have been covered previously in our hint and tips. Special offers during the Advent period will again be offered. Just remember that the project will be removed from this blog on 6th January 2020 and as previously, be offered as a paid pattern soon afterwards.
