Traditional Scottish knitting

There are several regional fishermans gansey patterns as detailed in a previous post.

A fairly new addition to our range of knitting patterns is for a Sanquhar style sweater pattern (see below). Sanquhar in Upper Nithsdale was famous for its two colour knitting, most notably gloves and socks. A full history of knitting in sanquhar can be found on the Dumfries Museum site.
