In Victorian times, anything which could be covered by crochet was covered by crochet, including pianos, plant pots, birdcages and even coffins! Here we bring you a selection of these more unusual 1:12th scale crochet patterns.
The following patterns are available to buy as instantly downloadable PDFs (click the pattern names for more details):
CP 23 1:12th scale birdcage cover and spiral tablecloth
Although the tablecloth shown is quite short (Victorian tablecloths often reached the floor) instructions are given for increasing the size/length of the tablecloth in the pattern.
CP 42 1:12th scale plant pot covers
These are another example of the Victorians love of stiffened crochet.
CP 50 1:12th scale piano runner
Tassels were very common adornments on Victorian crochet and thre would often be more than one at each end.
CP 18 1:12th scale coffin pall (cover)
Although shown here in white for clarity, this would more often have been black. The Victorians became obsessed with death and even dressed babies in black, when the family was in mourning.
