On the second sunday of October every year people flock to the Northamptonshire Village of Ashton for the World Conker Championships

Conkers ripen as the fruit of the horse chestnut tree in September and October and are eagerly collected by little boys (and very often their fathers!) Various methods of collecting include picking up conkers from cases that have fallen overnight, throwing sticks up into the trees to dislodge ripe fruits and some intrepid boys will climb the trees to pick the fruits. The children will then string the conkers and have competitions, which still take place today, although many schools have now unfortunately banned this old tradition, as conkers are considered too dangerous! This does not stop the little boys (and bigger boys!) producing conkers from their trouser pockets.

Why not stage a conker competition in your dolls house or miniature school. Conkers can be found on our web shop along with other items for little boy dolls to produce from pockets such as worms!
