Shrove Tuesday or Pancake Day falls on February 5th this year.
This is traditionally the day when pancakes were made to use up rich foods
such as eggs, milk and sugar before the start of Lent when only plain food was eaten for 40 days until Easter.
Today we still make pancakes but there are several other traditions such as Pancake races. We have an annual and many other towns have pancake races and ball games too. The most notable in the Midlands of England are the Shrove Tuesday Ball games in Atherstone, Warwickshire and Ashbourne in Derbyshire.
If you wish to celebrate Shrove Tuesday in traditional style without the calories, then we offer a range of 1:12th scale pancakes (and other traditional foods) for the dolls house on our web shop.
