Buttercup Miniatures 20th birthday – part 1

This year sees the 20th anniversary of Buttercup Miniatures and we would like to spend a few minutes looking back over those years. The first ten years were covered in a 3 part blog so this article will cover 2009 to today.

As it turned out the 10th birthday year was the peak of Buttercup in all it’s various forms. At that time we had a web shop stocking our hand crafted needles and printed patterns, along with yarns and dolls house accessories. But the digital age continued to march on and there were increasing requests to supply our patterns in instantly downloadable digital format. This was accomplished in July 2010 when we teamed up with Ravelry and began making our patterns available for instant download. It soon became apparent that this was the preferred method of buying patterns, so we continued to expand our pattern offerings on Ravelry.

Digital patterns also allowed for expansion into other aeas of pattern designing, such as 1:6th scale (Barbie) and even human size. Today the patterns sold via these blog pages are administered by Ravelry, who process these sales for us via their shopping cart.
