Advent Calendar 2021 – materials list

Advent calendar notice
© F H Powell 2021

Due to local and national lockdowns occurring at short notice in various parts of the world, we are publishing the materials required for the 2021 Advent calendar earlier than usual. Remember, online outlets may also be affected by restrictions and have longer delays than normal. With this in mind we have tried to keep the materials list to readily available items

The pattern this year will be an outer garment for an adult female doll in 1:24th scale, 1:12th scale or 1:6th scale, the SAME pattern may also be used to make a neck accessory for yourself or your partner to wear. This year the theme will be Twisted Stitches.

If you wish to take part you will require either:

Dolls garment:
1:6th scale – 2.00 mm needles, cable needle, 100 metres No 10 crochet cotton
1:12th scale – 1.00 mm/UK size 19/US size 00000 knitting needles, cable needle, 70 metres DMC Broder Spécial No 25 or No 20 crochet cotton
1:24th scale – 0.50 mm/UK size 25/US size 000000000 knitting needles, cable needle, No 80 crochet cotton
Note: This project is not suitable for a very first project in 1:24th or 1:12th scale miniature knitting.

Human accessory:
Small-
4.00 mm knitting needles, cable needle, 145 metres Double Knitting yarn
Large – 4.50 mm knitting needles, cable needle, 160 metres Aran weight yarn

As mentioned above, this years Advent calendar will feature Twisted Stitches in the knitting. We will publish a free pattern later this week which will focus on some of the stitches used in this years calendar, as a practice for the Advent project, which will start, as usual on 1st December. This practice pattern does NOT have the actual stitch pattern as that used in the calendar, but the ability to work these stitches IS a requirement for the Advent Calendar.

The free pattern, which can be worked using any size needles and yarn, can be made into a Christmas decoration or dolls cushion. Hopefully this little pattern will help those who need it to practice or refresh the stitches required for this years Advent calendar.

Don’t forget to check back later this week for your FREE practice pattern.

Further updates for the Advent Calendar will be posted throughout November.
